T.Shirt - The Loft Sessions EP
Download The Loft Sessions EP - T.Shirt
Press Release:
"It's a bit of a long story but I'll make it quick. This past August I sublet a friend of a friend's loft in Chinatown and recorded an EP of what's been going on in my life. Originally, I reached out to a bunch of different artists, producers, writers, and contacts I'd made over a while to collaborate and turn the release into something bigger than what I could do alone but few hit me back, and even fewer actually came through.
The project is my first of original material. I wrote the album in 2 weeks to a library of beats I've had for some time. I spent 5 days recording 7 tracks. I recorded the intro "Fuck the Summertime" on the morning I had to be out of the loft, September 1st. I felt like I needed one more record so I started flipping through the beats and when I found one, for the first time in my life I stood in front of the mic and free-styled in spurts, writing the whole record live in 15 minutes.
I spent most nights alone, mixing records, sitting at the big windows watching, breathing Chinatown. I'm at a funny point in my life and I poured it all into the music. My friend Ryan came by a couple days and we shot all the artwork, which I'm very excited about. He took great, very introspective shots that really show you what kind of place I was in. There's a line on one of my favorite records on the album, "I'm exploring, eyes wide, walking through the halls, this man's got his whole life right here on the walls". And it's true. The combination of having such a black summer, losing family, our icons, going crazy trying to work and grind for these invisible means, and being in this much older man's home, this accomplished artist's Chinatown loft for 25 years was a lot to take in. It really put me in a different kind of creative space.
If everything goes according to plan I'm releasing it digitally for free on my www.illrapper.com this coming TUESDAY, September 29th. I also plan to submit it to iTunes & Amazon for an official November Release. My only hope is that the blogs pick it up, people get wind, there's some kind of demand for it and word gets around that it's good music and deserves a listen. That's seriously my only hope. If you have some kind of avenue, a site, if you have any ideas on how to get this thing out there, please, I'm open to any kind of help.
Talk to me, hit me back. Say something, anything, lemme know you got this. Peace for now !"- T.Shirt

DJ Roc Raida dies after complications stemming from MMA accident
The music world is in mourning after it was announced by hip hop artist Busta Rhymes that his personal DJ, Roc Raida, is dead aged 37.
Raida, an avid mixed martial arts devotee, had injured his back while training at a gym, and had received back surgery twice in the time since to correct the injury.
He was recovering from the surgery when complications saw his health take a turn for the worst, and he died Saturday Sept. 19. at 2:05 p.m.
Born Anthony Williams, Raid won the 1995 DMC World DJ Championship, earning a spot in the DMC Hall of Fame four years later. The turntable spinner worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Ghostface Killah, Jungle Brothers, Busta Rhymes, Big L and Linkin Park.
He had released six solo albums and seven more with his group, the X-Ecutioners.
Williams had trained in mixed martial arts for several years. He was recovering at an "inpatient physical therapy facility" at the time of his death, according to a statement from his family.
"Family and friends will miss him dearly. Please give the family their privacy," the statement continued.
Busta Rhymes said on his Twitter stream, "I never met a more humble man in the industry...So unbelievably talented and most importantly such beautiful spirit...I LOVE U MY BROTHER..." before talking about how "We r loosing all of these great people this year as a result of God calling his army because something is about 2 go down!!"
"To me, he was the best DJ on the planet--nobody can tell me different," his friend Lord Finesse told StreetHop.com. "Until they do what Roc Raida has done, from body tricks to beat juggling to speed scratching. I mean, everything ... he made that shit look easy."
A post on Williams' MySpace page had previously warned fans that "rumors and chatter are not accurate." His family called the death "unexpected."
Williams is survived by his wife and three daughters. R.I.P Brutha!

Rescue Ink
Finally something worth taking a glance at. These guys are actually doing something about the problem, not just talking tht talk but walking the walk. Nuff respect!
RESCUE INK is a rescue group unlike any you’ve seen before: a bunch of tattooed, motorcycle-riding tough guys who have joined together to fight animal cruelty, educate abusers and help resolve situations other rescue groups can’t – or won’t – handle themselves.
Some of the guys grew up in the projects, some had their brushes with the law, some used their smarts to survive, even thrive on the streets. But that was then, this is now, and today they all share a common goal: Using every means within the thin boundaries of the law, they persuade and educate abusers about the right way to treat animals.
Like many of the animals they save, the members of Rescue Ink know what it’s like to be given a second chance in life. And they’re using theirs to help the animals, no matter what it takes.
What makes them so effective? Take a look. Would you mess with these guys?

V THE SERIES (2009) - LONG PROMO
V is an upcoming television series remake to be broadcast on ABC during the mid season of the 2009-2010 television season. It is executive produced by The 4400 creator Scott Peters, Jace Hall, Steve Pearlman and Jeffrey Bell and is based on the science-fiction franchise created by Kenneth Johnson. The series will premiere on November 3, 2009. V: The Series was a one-hour weekly television series that aired in the United States on NBC in 1984-85. It was a continuation of the science fiction franchise about an alien invasion of Earth by a carnivorous race of reptilians known as "The Visitors" which was originally conceived by American writer, producer and director Kenneth Johnson. Johnson, however, was not involved in the production of the weekly series. Giant spaceships appear over all major cities of the world, the alien "Visitors" claiming to come in peace. As some humans begin to doubt the sincerity of the Visitors, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans discovers that the aliens have spent decades infiltrating human governments and businesses and are now in the final stages of their plan to take over the planet. Erica joins the resistance movement, which includes Ryan, a Visitor sleeper agent who wants to save humanity. However, the aliens have won favor among the people of Earth by curing a variety of diseases, and have recruited Earth's youth, including Erica's son, to serve unknowingly as spies. This is a must for all you 80's babies outthere.

Jay-Z: "No One Is Scared Of 50 Cent"
So on Trevor Nelson's BBC 1 radio show recently Jay-Z responded to Nelson's suggestion that Kanye wouldn't have pulled his VMA stunt on 50 as he did Taylor Swift by saying, "I think he would have done it if it was 50 Cent. No one's scared of 50 Cent....I just want everyone to know no one's scared of 50 Cent!" Now of course Ye wouldn't have done it if it were Gary Coleman but that's besides the point, the point is 50 got what he wanted after jabbing at Hov on "Flight 187" and will gladly use this to create some type of "beef" to promote the steamless and still no release date BISD lp. Let the games begin. Holla. - ICE

Diddy's Next Album "Last Train to Paris"
Diddy's been promising a full-on return to music for a while, and the hip-hop entrepreneur appears to be making his comeback the right way, by hyping the release of his upcoming Last Train to Paris album with a mixtape that dropped in August.
Diddy announced the tape — produced by famed Chicago remixer Felix Da Housecat (Britney Spears, Ciara, Madonna) and released in August — with a tweet in which he bragged, "Lectro Black is my dance music alter ego!!! Mr. Lectro Black is a bad mother----er!!! Close your eyes and jump!"
The electro-house mix is precisely what Diddy has been teasing for more than a year, with a Kanye-like mix of rapping and singing and a fervent promise from the Bad Boy boss on the thumping intro that, "We are the crush groovin', the body movin', the record makin' and the record breakin'. We go by the name of 'Lectro Black and we represent that dirty, dirty. We represent that electro, that funk, that hip-hop, that punk rock, the dirty, dirty. We ain't into that commercial, crowd pleasin' ass-kissin' DJ, 'throw yo hands in the air, wave 'em like you just don't care' sh--! We want your mind, we want your body, and we came to take your mother----in' soul!"
Last Train to Paris is the upcoming fifth solo studio album by American rapper Diddy and is scheduled to be released in November 24, 2009, on Bad Boy Records. In April 2009, with Dawn Richard of Danity Kane and singer Kalenna, Diddy formed the group Dirty Money, which will perform on this album.
Diddy describes Last Train to Paris as an "electro-hip-hop-soul funk" album; it is scheduled to be released in November 2009. The arc will follow Diddy's character as he tours from London to Paris and finds the woman of his dreams - only to lose her, find her, lose her again and find her a final time. Under the group name Dirty Money, Diddy will work with Dawn Richard of Danity Kane and another singer/writer named Kalenna Harper . Diddy also released an application for the iPhone that integrates his social networking site and Twitter feed. A short film will also accompany the album. As of September 2nd 2009, "Love Come Down", which samples "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)" by Jay-Z, and "Angels", which features Notorious B.I.G. and a sample from "Where I'm From",also by Jay-Z, are the only confirmed tracks on the album. Sacario has also wrote two songs for Diddy.

Dubai's Moving Skyscraper "Dynamic Tower" Planned For 2010
NEW YORK -- An Italian architect said he is poised to start construction on a new skyscraper in Dubai that will be "the world's first building in motion," an 80-story tower with revolving floors that give it an ever-shifting shape.
The spinning floors, hung like rings around an immobile cement core, would offer residents a constantly changing view of the Persian Gulf and the city's futuristic skyline.
A few penthouse villas would spin on command using a voice-activated computer. The motion of the rest of the building would be choreographed in patterns that could be altered over time.
Speaking at a news conference in New York on Tuesday, the building's designer, David Fisher, declared that his tower will revolutionize the way skyscrapers are made -- a claim that might strike some as excessively bold.

DJ AM Is Laid To Rest
People magazine reports that Adam Goldstein, AKA DJ AM, was laid to rest on Wednesday in a small funeral at LA's Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary. Among those in attendance were close friend Travis Barker, girlfriend Hayley Wood, and actor Scott Caan.
The ceremony was relatively small and didn't include some of the big celebs who were extremely saddened by the DJ's passing. Girlfriend Hayley looked particularly upset and couldn't stop crying. Although sources say the two had split, Hayley claims that they were still very much together at the time of his death.
A memorial for the late DJ will be held on Thursday evening at the Hollywood Palladium. And invitation for the memorial reads, "The format of the evening will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting," and will be "a gathering to celebrate the life of our friend Adam Goldstein." Now if he'd only gotten to that 12-step-program a little bit sooner, maybe none of this sadness would have happened.
Family and friends including Travis Barker, Hayley Wood, Scott Caan, and Seth Binzer attend the funeral for Adam Goldstein, DJ AM, at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in LA.

R.I.P DJ AM
Sources tell us he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 PM. We're told drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
Our sources say DJ AM had not been seen or heard from for a few days -- one of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door.
We're told the friend called the police, who broke down the door and then found DJ AM's body.
Back in September of 2008, DJ AM and Travis Barker survived a plane crash in South Carolina. Four people died in the crash -- which was caused when the airplane aborted takeoff and then ran off the runway. DJ AM and Barker were the only survivors.

The Premiere Of "I_NY" Another Blunt Picture.
5 Hottest In-House Hip-Hop Producers?
Forget buying $100,000 tracks from super-producers—the ability to self-produce beats in-house has become a financial and creative necessity for rappers. Shrinking budgets and little to no A&R involvement mean that artists who produce their own beats, like Soulja Boy and The Cool Kids, have a leg up. But for an up-and-coming rapper who doesn’t make their own music, the best move is to recruit someone you mesh well with to become your go-to in-house producer. Let’s not forget that most of today’s biggest hitmakers—from Timbaland to Swizz Beatz—earned their stripes as in-house producers before going on to find freelance success. See original story to see who the 5 are now.

KRS-One and Buckshot 'Survival Skills' in stores September 15th
"After making their indelible marks on the game luminaries KRS-One and Buckshot, arguably two of the games most prolific emcees, will link up to give fans a collaborative album entitled Survival Skills. The project will be released on Duck Down Records, September 15,th while the duo will be featured on The Rock The Bells tour this Summer.
With guests ranging from Mary J. Blige, Slug Of Atmosphere, K'NAAN, Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique, Melanie Fiona, Naledge of Kidz In The Hall, Sean Price, Geo of Blue Scholars, Smif N Wessun and Rock of Heltah Skeltah, "Survival Skills" represents a diverse range of topics, all while maintaining a consistent sound. The album has production from Havoc of Mobb Deep, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, ILL MIND, Coptic, Moss, Nottz, Marco Polo, and KHRYSIS!
On the surface the album is a testament to the resiliency of two lyrical titans, but at its root Survival Skills is a blueprint for life. For instance on the infectious head-nodder "Robot," which was released 6 weeks prior to Jay Z's "The Death Of Auto Tune" track, and already available World Wide at Digital Retail Shops, such as iTunes, the duo speak-out against the recent overuse of the Auto-Tune vocal effect in urban music, but under the surface the message is much deeper. "I don't want people to get the averaged clichéd version and thinking that we're dissing people,'" Buckshot clarifies. "What we're calling out here is the biters, the people that feel like because this guy sold X amount of records doing this, that I'm going to turn around and do it as well," KRS says of the array of artists who have followed in the creative footsteps of Roger Troutman, Afrikka Bambatta, Teddy Riley and T-Pain. Despite its heavy message, sonically the track, produced by Mobb Deep's Havoc, is as inviting as anything on the radio today. The video for "ROBOT," directed by Todd Angkaswan, has been added into rotation at MTV & BET. The track has also been included in the sound track for Activision's upcoming Tony Hawk skate game in stores this Fall."- Sana Arshad

Apple tablet coming sooner than next year? Thanks to record labels?
I know, this sounds ludicrous. I agree. What could some record labels have to do with Apple releasing the tablet of our dreams? Actually, who cares, as long as we get what we want, right?
The rumor states that Apple has been working with these record labels on a secret project, codenamed “Cocktail.” This project’s end-goal is to make buying digital music that much more irresistible to you. How will they do this? Better liner notes and video clips to accompany any album you might buy through iTunes. And these rumored liner notes would be more than just your standard band pics and lyrics. No no, not even just a PDF or two. It’s supposed to be engaging and interactive.
I remember something like this not really taking off too well. Remember CDs with extra content on the CD when you placed it into your computer? Sadly, most of these only worked on Windows PCs, but still. The idea didn’t work too well, and I don’t see this idea being much better. In the end, it’s the music you want, because you can listen to music while doing other things. You don’t necessarily want to be completely distracted by an interactive album app.
Still, if it gets the Apple tablet of my dreams into my hands quicker, I’m all for it. This particular rumor isn’t too detailed on specs. It briefly mentions a 10 inch screen and internet connectivity. That’s about it, but it does make one more point that I’d like to highlight. The article concludes by mentioning that Apple is hoping to succeed in a market where others have failed, namely, the tablet market. Might I remind the internet that this is what Apple excels at—making substandard products amazing".- Jake Gaecke.
Electric Zoo: "New York's Electronic Music Festival" Sep. 5&6 at Randall's Island Park.
The organizers of Electric Zoo have announced the scheduled and stages for both days of the event. Judging by the way things are organized they are trying to keep all of the areas pretty diverse. The themes for the stages are the main stage, Riverside Arena, Sunday School Hilltop, and Respect Grove on Saturday. Lil Biggie Smalls Launches Rap Career
"Christopher Wallace, Jr., aka the son of the late rapper Notorious B.I.G, is following in his father’s footsteps by putting out a mixtape. During a recent trip to New York City, Wallace met up with Sean "Diddy" Combs and son Christian, to reveal his next power moves. “I just finished up with that movie, probably act a little more, I've been rapping a bit, working on a mix-tape right now” said the young Biggie Smalls. Wallace and Christian both visited with Diddy for a week in what he has dubbed “Swag Summer School,” to make sure the two uphold the legacy of what he and the Notorious B.I.G. built. “We spending time to nurture this legacy so they know really what they need to do when the baton is passed, the torch is passed,” stated Combs.
No release date has been released for the as-yet-untitled mixtape. Christopher Wallace, Jr., currently lives in Los Angeles with his mother singer/song-writer Faith Evans and her three other children."-Jocelyn Johnson.

Interview With An Artist: Ryan Rasheed (Leb Laze, Prefuse 73)
"Producer, artist and keyboard player for Prefuse 73, Ryan Rasheed creates dense and layered music every bit as diverse as his resume. Recently, under his Leb Laze moniker, he released a solo record titled Rasheed's Dream, a funky pulsing ride with smooth waves of modulating synths sliced with delicious percussive flourishes. Ryan and I met last year when he sold me his Roland Juno 60 keyboard (what he now calls a regret!) and after finally having a short break from music, I got the chance to sit down with Ryan again and get serious about music. Follow us after the break and get a closer look at an artist you definitely need to know".- Todd Thomas

Look out for Leb Laze's new LP "Tracks & Artifacts" and mixtape "Weird Times" dropping this fall on Hoss Records.

"A truly momentous occasion when I get to hear these two. Just roll thru if you don't belive me, but be advised, for you will be overcome by the desire to further submerge yourself into heat you couldn't possibly control. Oh, You WILL be moved. ...In ways that will be remembered, every time time you dance for years to come. I'll be there, sippin' my yac, toastin' it up to a terrible two. Where will you be? ...party starts @10. Sexy."- Will Divide.
Will Divide Hosts Street Fighter Party for Musiqjive.com @ Jade Theater in San Diego,California
"Wooooow! Someone had their thinking cap on for this one. Street Fighter and Will Divide?! Thats whatsup. Good Lookin' Jennie! Now I can Finally rep and not feel like a bitter ass city boy. I'm a Street Fighter now. Like Batman and Bruce Wayne servin' up whole cans of whoop ass to the creatures of the night. The Thrill seeking playboy workin' the graveyard shifts. And an approachable madman minus the jet powered whip. It might even be time to start spelunking.
Either way, Jade Theater, took it like a bunch of champs and still kept it sexy. Too-Shay, my fair little californians. For they were in the spirit. Maybe it was Comicon? Shit, Everyone needs a hero"- Will Divide.
